Speeches

Over the life of Wings Across America, there have been many, many speeches. Organizations like the EAA, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, MOAA, Air Force and joint bases, Air Force Association, Girl Scouts, Sons of the Republic of Texas, DAR, TSTC, Baylor and countless more invited our team to share more about the WASP.

One of the most memorable was for the Texas Historical Commission, as they introduced their new Texas in WWII brochure (picture and quote on p. 11). They invited our WASP to speak at the announcement ceremony on Veteran’s Day. Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, was also at the podium that day.

I am grateful I was able to capture this unforgettable moment: Deanie, all of 5'2", standing behind the podium on the steps of the Texas State Capitol. There was no video, but there was one picture—representing that moment and so many more.
