As the FlyGirls of WWII traveling exhibit continued to grow, technology made it possible to share the stories of the WASP in an exciting new way.

Once the interviews were digitized, I could link video clips directly to the exhibit using the new technology of QR codes. What fun that was! Now, the WASP could TALK!

QR codes were added to each of the six life-size WASP standups, to plaques with uniform descriptions as well as the main panels.   Visitors could simply scan a code and hear that WASP share a short story or memory in her own words.  Our Opening Introductory Panel had its own QR Code, linking visitors to our Wings Across America website.

Other QR codes brought historic photographs and experiences to life—from the Link Trainer and the Cattle Truck to marching around the Wishing Well.

What began as a collection of exhibit panels had become something much more: an interactive experience where the women themselves could help tell their story.
